Match Report: Challengers vs Schëtter

In an exciting encounter on May 21, 2023, the Star Challengers faced off against the Star Shetters in a thrilling cricket match. The Sunday clash witnessed some outstanding performances and unforgettable moments that will be cherished by cricket enthusiasts in Luxembourg. Challengers won the toss and chose to bat, setting a respectable target of 150 runs for the Shetters Stars in their allocated 20 overs. The Challengers' innings featured steady batting performances, with an impressive opening partnership between Javed and Murali, who provided a comfortable start for the challengers with some beautifully played shots. After Murali's departure, Rutvij displayed his brilliance to support the team. The partnership between Javed and Rutvij was also commendable. Despite losing seven wickets along the way, Ahsan contributed significantly to the Challengers' final total of 149 runs. After the Challengers' innings concluded, the teams gathered to bid farewell to Mohammad Aziz Ahmadzai. The club and his teammates honored his contributions and wished him well in his future endeavors, acknowledging his remarkable presence and commitment. As one chapter closed, another began with the introduction of two talented youngsters, 17-year-old Abdul Rahim Saifi and 24-year-old Jay Raval, who made their debut for the Shetters Stars. The Shetters Stars began their chase with determination, aiming to surpass the target set by their opponents. The openers Vineet and Faisal made an excellent start, building a partnership of 64 runs in 11 overs. However, after Faisal's departure, the Shetters struggled to find their rhythm against the disciplined bowling attack from the Challengers. The pressure increased as the Shetters Stars lost wickets at regular intervals, affecting their run rate. In the end, they finished their innings with a score of 119 runs for the loss of seven wickets, falling short of the target. While the match itself was captivating, it was the hattricks that stole the show and left spectators astounded. Seventeen-year-old Abdul Rahim Saifi, playing in his first match for the Shetters Stars, achieved a sensational hattrick in the 20th over. His exceptional bowling skills were on full display as he dismissed three Challengers' batsmen in consecutive deliveries, executing the dismissals in the 19.4, 19.5, and 19.6 balls. Not to be outdone, Star Challengers' captain Rishi Acharya rose to the challenge and showcased his brilliance by replicating the hattrick in the same over, with the same set of deliveries, 19.4, 19.5, and 19.6. This remarkable feat turned the tide in favor of the Challengers and sealed the fate of the Shetters Stars. It was an extraordinary day for hattricks in the history of the LCF League, as both teams witnessed exceptional bowling performances. In the end, the Star Challengers emerged victorious, successfully defending their target and securing a memorable win. The match will be remembered for the arrivals, departures, and most notably, the incredible hattricks that showcased the talent and unpredictability of the game.

Match Report:Star vs Heritage

When August holiday moods land up on Cricket Pitch can create exciting clash as part of brain (read player) on holidays and body (others) have to follow cricket. Young gun Ansh Trivedi, final stint at Walferfange Oval, atleast for this season, before he embarks to his higher studies with one eye on cricket career in Holland, (All the good luck to him) got to bowl his variations first up as Stars put Heritage to bat after winning the toss. Star bowlers, understanding quickly that this is no time to think of holidays, did not allow any Heritage bats to settle and restricted them to 124 for 8. "Below par" is what Stars may have believed but Heritage bowlers bowled tight lines and in process of acceleration Stars kept on loosing wickets at short intervals. But then "Majestic Gill" asking somebody to give him support and that is what exactly Sambhav Puri did allowing Shiv Karan Gill to excel his strike rate and bringing Stars home with his unbeaten 64 of 48 with Stars scoring 125/6 in 19.1 overs. Stars face Walferdange Optimists this Saturday, 13h00 Start.
